Volvo Cars of North America will provide more than 400 of its U.S. and Canadian dealerships with the Snap-on Vantage PRO component diagnostic system, according to Mary Gilmour, tool and equipment manager for Volvo Cars of North America, LLC. In addition, 80 Vantage PRO systems have been earmarked by Volvo for its field technical staff and service training schools.

Volvo selected Vantage PRO by Snap-on after six months of rigorous, side-by-side testing against other leading manufacturers’ diagnostic tools. The special order of Vantage PRO instruments will be in Volvo’s signature blue and bear the Volvo logo.

“Ease-of-use, power and speed were key factors that set the Vantage PRO system apart,” said Gilmour. “It has been designated an essential and required tool at Volvo dealerships throughout North America.”

“A primary goal of Snap-on Diagnostics is to provide our OEM partners, such as Volvo, with exactly the right diagnostic tool solutions for their dealer organizations,” said Tom Ward, vice president, Snap-on Incorporated and president, diagnostics and information group. “The Vantage PRO system leverages the industry’s leading experience-based software and robust hardware design with global distribution, dependable customer service support and brand strengths.”

The Vantage PRO system incorporates a power graphing meter, two-channel lab scope and ultra-fast ARM processor. It also features a 5.7-in. sunlight readable color display and Windows operating system. Built-in power user tests provide setups for dual channel comparison tests, transducer tests and techniques developed by ASE-certified master technicians.

Vantage PRO provides more than two million vehicle-specific component tests for engine, transmission, ABS, charging, transfer case and suspension systems. Expandability and future upgrades are assured by regular software improvements, compact flash bays, USB ports and common lead connections. The advanced diagnostic tool is protected by a heavy-duty, ergonomic housing to withstand rugged shop environments.
