Summit Racing Equipment Named Title Sponsor of NHRA POWERade Event

Summit Racing Equipment, a direct mail and Internet supplier of high performance auto parts, signed a multi-year agreement with NHRA to become title sponsor of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event at Norwalk Raceway Park. Advance ticket sales for the event set a one-week sales record.

Summit Racing Equipment, a direct mail and Internet supplier of high performance auto parts, signed a multi-year agreement with the National Hot Rod Association to become title sponsor of the NHRA POWERade Drag Racing Series event at NHRA’s newest venue, Norwalk Raceway Park (www.NorwalkRaceway.com). The facility is being renamed Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park as part of a multi-year agreement announced last week at the annual SEMA Show in Las Vegas.

The inaugural Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals will be held June 28 through July 1 as the 12th event on NHRA’s 23-race POWERade Series 2007 schedule, and the first-ever POWERade Series event at Summit Racing Equipment Motorsports Park. The facility is located just over an hour from Summit Racing Equipment’s headquarters in Tallmadge, Ohio.

Track president Bill Bader, Jr., said advance ticket sales already set a one-week sales record for any race in the facility’s 44-year history. Advance ticket sales to ticket holders from the 2006 IHRA World Nationals in Norwalk and the discontinued 2006 Pontiac Performance NHRA Nationals in Columbus began last week. Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Monday, December 4.

"After setting a record for advance ticket sales last week, we’re sure these will be some of the hottest selling tickets on the POWERade Series circuit," said Bader.

The inaugural Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals will be televised on ESPN2 and ESPN2 HD as teams compete for points in the NHRA’s new Countdown to the Championship format.
