Bosch, the world leader in brake technology, is launching a major brake program and introducing QuietCast Premium Disc Brake Pads. QuietCast pads feature a rubber-core shim that promotes silent operation. The brake pad program, with 789 part numbers, will provide 95 percent coverage for all makes and models of Asian, Domestic and European automobiles, light trucks and SUVs throughout the United States and Canada.

“QuietCast disc brake pads offer platform-specific ceramic, semi-metallic and non-asbestos organic (NAO) formulations, rubber-core shims and Molded Shim Technology (MST) on selected applications. These unique OE style features provide quiet, outstanding braking performance, as well as long life. QuietCast brake pads are engineered, manufactured, distributed and backed by Bosch,” said Rob Backode, director of product management, for Bosch Automotive Aftermarket Brake Components North America.

Engineering and Manufacturing Set QuietCast Apart
Every QuietCast brake pad is fitted with the industry’s best pre-attached rubber core shim, exclusively offered by Bosch in the aftermarket. The laminated rubber core shim is heat and pressure cured between two layers of steel, a process that ensures the highest quality bonding of the rubber to steel. This produces lower noise, increased strength, and corrosion resistance. The unique rubber core in the shim dampens brake sound vibration, Backode indicated.

QuietCast Disc Brake Pads feature:
Advanced platform specific friction formulations with extensive testing, using the same testing procedures Bosch uses for OE friction. This creates some of the top performing friction materials in the aftermarket today. QuietCast friction is sculpted to match the OE design with chamfer and slots with the Industry’s best pre-attached rubber-core shims – the most predominant style shim used as original equipment today, and exclusively offered by Bosch in the aftermarket.

Bosch molded shim technology (MST), an innovation for the aftermarket means that at the time of pressing, heat, adhesive, and pressure mold the rubber-core shim to the friction material and backing plate to create a one piece molded unit. The shim stays attached and won’t delaminate over time; won’t walk off or shift, which would reduce effectiveness. MST is available in the aftermarket only from Bosch.

Brakes Match Original Installed Type
Bosch brakes match the type of brakes originally installed.  If the vehicle manufacturer installed ceramic, Bosch replaces with ceramic. If OE is semi-metallic, Bosch replaces with semi-metallic, and so on, including non-asbestos organic, and low mets – Bosch matches the OE friction type.  And Bosch ads more abutment clip hardware kits than other national brands, more electronic wear sensors than other national brands, and pure synthetic brake lube packets.

The pads are in high impact packaging in tri-lingual NOM50 compliant boxes with illustrated labels showing the axle position and pad diagram.  All pads are individually wrapped for extra protection

Long History of Brake Development
In 1936 Bosch applied for its first patent in braking and has been continually developing and launching market changing braking innovations. Bosch brought the motorist groundbreaking technologies like Anti-Lock Braking (ABS) and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) – Bosch was first to introduce ABS to the market in 1978, and Electronic Stability Control was introduced in 1996. For the 2012 model year, ESC is mandated by NHTSA (FMVSS126) to be included on all passenger vehicles and light trucks.

“This is just what you would expect from one of the world’s largest OE suppliers of brake componentss. One out of every three vehicles on the road in North America utilizes Bosch brake components, and QuietCast Disc Brake Pads continue the Bosch tradition of excellence and set new standards for quiet, reliable braking on today’s vehicles,” he indicated.
