U.S. Army Chooses SOLUS PRO as its Diagnostic Tool for HMMWV Humvees

The SOLUS PRO was designed to reduce complexity to more quickly access the specialized control systems on the military Humvee.

Looking for a diagnostic tool that could be all that it could be? The United States Army turned to Snap-on and has chosen the SOLUS PRO as the U.S. Army’s diagnostic tool for use on its Humvees.

“We our honored that the United States Army has chosen SOLUS PRO as its diagnostic tool for its HMMWV Humvees,” said Chris Hockett, product manager, Snap-on Diagnostics. “We worked very closely with Army personnel to develop this military SOLUS PRO scan tool that will work exclusively on Army Humvees. In the field, speed and reliability are critical. There are no more extreme conditions than what Army vehicles face and to know that the U.S. Army is putting its faith in Snap-on diagnostic tools is a testament to what a great product we have in SOLUS PRO.”

Working with the Army, Snap-on’s goal was to create a productivity solution that minimized the steps needed to connect, identify and solve a vehicle problem within seconds. The technician can quickly choose the coverage he or she needs with a few clicks: codes, data, functional tests or Troubleshooter support. The SOLUS PRO was designed to reduce complexity to more quickly access the specialized control systems on the military Humvee.

“I have been using a wide variety of diagnostic scan tools well over 20 years while maintaining both civilian and military equipment,” said Paul L. McLaughlin, senior automotive maintenance officer, United States Army. “The critical characteristics of an invaluable scan tool include ease of use, live data parameters, graphing capabilities, ability to quickly pull diagnostic trouble codes and bi-directional controls with onboard computers.  The solution for the HMMWV 4L80-E transmissions is the completely redesigned military specific SOLUS PRO. This scan tool incorporates all of these characteristics and integrates the features into the best scan tool on the market today. The SOLUS PRO will make our soldiers better technicians with its wealth of built-in capabilities and references.”

The military SOLUS PRO comes in a special storm case with a dedicated 12-foot cable for the Humvee. The cable length allows the technician flexibility to move around the vehicle while viewing the information provided by the SOLUS PRO.
