Sylvania Launches 30 New Products in 2010

Sylvania has launched a total of 88 new products in 2009 and 2010 combined. The company said these new additions to its product lineup showcase its commitment and ongoing investment to the aftermarket parts business, even in a down economy. Not only do these products serve a wider range of vehicles, but they offer improved performance specs as well, the company says. The new 2010 product line focuses on superior lighting and helping drivers see the road better.

The economy may be down, but that isn’t stopping Osram Sylvania from moving ahead with an aggressive expansion of innovative new products that gives drivers more choices to help improve their safety and visibility.

That was the message company leadership was sending at the 2010 Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) last week in Las Vegas, after launching 30 new products this year.

“Our strategy is to continue to deliver a wide range of new products and technologies to satisfy — even anticipate — evolving customers’ needs and wants,” said Joe Verbanic, marketing manager for Sylvania Automotive Lighting. “We’re proud to help shape the future of automotive lighting for both OEM and the aftermarket.”

“We will continue to make available the widest range and most innovative products to help improve driver safety and visibility. We’re expanding our product line, so that the availability, as well as the quality of our products, keeps improving,” said Verbanic.

By introducing a new Headlight Restoration Kit earlier this year, Sylvania says it hopes to address a major safety concern, which is poor driver visibility due to weathered headlight lenses. The Headlight Restoration Kit from Sylvania was designed to remove thousands of miles of damage and restore headlight lenses to provide durable and like-new performance in light output. This do-it-yourself kit helps reduce headlight glare by up to 70 percent, removes the hazy yellow appearance on lenses and protects headlights from UV rays. Using the kit can allow up to three times more light to shine on the road. The key product differentiator is the UV Block Clear Coat, which protects headlights from UV rays, the number one reason headlights become dangerous.

Other new products include:

New H11 Silverstar ULTRA Halogen Bulb
Designed for low beam headlights, the H11 lamps provide higher luminance and color temperature for improved nighttime visibility. The H11 Silverstar ULTRA bulb is now 50 percent brighter, and allows drivers to see 40 percent farther and 50 percent wider. H11 is a leading low beam headlight and fog light on vehicles that are less than three years old. Halogen headlights are used in the majority of all vehicles on the road today.

Six New Silverstar Signal Bulbs
Not only is Sylvania introducing six new lamps, but the whole Silverstar line of bulbs will bear improved performance capabilities. The Silverstar line will be up to 40 percent brighter and 15 percent whiter and allow drivers to see 20 percent farther and 25 percent wider when compared to standard signal bulbs, the company said. The company adds that the Silverstar bulbs provide the greatest benefit for reverse lighting applications. When used for backing up, they improve visibility, especially in vehicles with high or tinted rear windows, and provide better screen viewing on vehicles with back-up cameras.

22 New Long-Life Signal Bulbs
With the addition of 22 signal bulbs, Sylvania now has a portfolio of 101 signal lamp types, which provide lighting options for 99 percent of the vehicles on the road today. The new products offer up to 100 percent longer life than standard signal bulbs.
