Raybestos Police Braking System Stars at 2009 Police Fleet Expo

Brand uses TrackTech Event at the Milwaukee Mile as proving ground.

As the old proverb goes, “the proof is in the pudding.” However, at the TrackTech Event held August 20 as pat of the 6th Annual Police Fleet Expo in Milwaukee, WI, the proof was in the state-of-the-art Police braking systems attached to the Crown Victorias and Ford Mustangs circling The Milwaukee Mile.

Nearly 400 Police Fleet professionals attended the three-day Expo which started with the TrackTech festivities. Outfitted with components of the Raybestos brand Police System, the vehicles allowed industry professionals to test drive and experience firsthand the advantages of the aftermarket’s first complete Police-specific brake system.

The Crown Victoria was equipped with the full Raybestos Police system — Police disc brake pads, rotors and calipers — and executed threshold braking exercises on pit row, while the Mustang racecars were outfitted with Raybestos Police Friction and ran on the interior road course to replicate the stresses placed on a police vehicle’s brakes during high-intensity driving. After nearly four hours of abusive driving, the Raybestos Police pads, rotors and calipers performed as well on the final round of exercises as it did on the first.

“Today was a great opportunity for fleet managers and technicians to experience the superiority of Raybestos brake products,” said Ronnie Faison, Raybestos Police Technical Consultant and former Equipment Superintendent for the North Carolina Highway Patrol. “This system performs unlike anything else in the fleet industry and its advantages were obvious to everyone in attendance.”

In addition to behind-the-wheel opportunities, the TrackTech event also featured technical seminars highlighting the specifics of the Raybestos Police System, driving modules and simulators, police motorcycles from Harley-Davidson Motor Company, state-of-the-art Police vehicles from departments all across the country, and a catered lunch sponsored by NuCap Industries, Inc. The event also featured NASCAR Cup cars outfitted with Raybestos brand racing friction giving high-speed rides around the one-mile track.
