OTC Now Offering Local Hands-on J2534 Reprogramming and Coding Training Forums

Reflash, Reprogram, Coding, Revenue

OTC has announced that it is partnering with its distributors to provide hands-on*, local training and simulations to technicians wanting to learn more about the latest J2534 reprogramming (reflash) and coding techniques. Technicians are welcome to bring their own scan tool to the training forum. There will also be several OTC diagnostic tools available to use or try and even some "trade up" special offers for attendees.

"While reprogramming and reading service codes are different tasks, both provide opportunities to maximize shop revenue and save time on billable labor," said Ed Lipscomb, OTC senior product manager, Diagnostic Systems.

The Forums are designed to help owners and technicians understand:

•   How J2534 affects the shop

•   How reprogramming differs from coding

•   OE reprogramming case studies and websites

•   What is a clean power supply and why use them for reprogramming

•   Proper reprogramming equipment

•   Replacement of ECM/PCM and other controller types

During May 15 through Sept. 30, 2012, forum attendees receive a $250 cash card with the purchase of a qualifying Genisys EVO software kit.

During the same time period, forum attendees, shop owners and technicians alike can trade in their old tool, purchase a new Genisys EVO (1 of qualifying kit part numbers 3874, 3874TPR or 3874HD), and receive a J2534 Reprogramming Tool or a PC-based TechScope – up to a $1,500 value. Eliminate the need to send reprogramming, scope and coding work elsewhere so you can keep the revenue and billable labor hours in your shop. See your distributor for details, terms and qualifying kits.

Technicians interested in attending a local forum should contact their distributor for the location and schedule of the nearest session.

*Hands-on available when possible, call for details on a forum near you.
