ALLDATA – I’ve tried the others, but nothing out there is as comprehensive – especially for auto-electrical.
Blue-Point Rechargeable UV Leak Detector Light and Dye Injector – A definite must-have for A/C work.
Blue-Point EEDM504B Multimeter – I don’t know how I went so long without multi/auto ranging.
OEM brand Test Light – It’s so important I have two at work and two at home.
Mac Tools Borescope – This is a great time-saver for piston inspection and awesome for finding those dropped sockets stuck in the engine compartment.

Metwrench – It’s great for odd sizes and/or stripped or rounded bolts.
Evercraft Stubby Wrench Set – Great for small confined spaces.
Lisle Pocket Clip Magnet – This is invaluable for retrieving tools, bolts, etc.
Craftsman Magnetic Inserts – These are ideal for holding nuts and bolts upside down for exhaust work.
Craftsman 6-Point Box End Wrenches – Excellent for a sure grip in odd-angle, hard-to-reach bolts or nuts.

Edwin Alfaro, foreman
Downtown Auto Center
Oakland, CA

Here are my top favorite tools:
My laptop because I have the service manuals, keep data, allows me to connect to the Internet, view snap shot…
Scanner – I can look at a lot of data, pull codes, active test, mode 6, verified repair.
Five Gas Analyzer – It helps me to see what’s going on inside the combustion chamber and catalytic converter. (Master Tech, Tech Two, Snap-on)
Fluke 98 Lab Scope – I can find intermittent problems, and I can view a picture instead of looking at a number.
Current Amp Probe – I can quickly see the current, and if it is viewed on a lab scope, you can see the signatures.
