Steven Taylor filed a lawsuit on Jan. 12 in the Harris County District Court against EFI Auto Service of Cy-Fair and the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles, alleging violations of the Texas Property Code and conversion.

Taylor says that in March 2010, the defendant replaced the timing belt on his 2003 Chrysler Concorde but the car would not start. According to the brief, Taylor and the defendant subsequently agreed that the car should not be repaired if the cost was over $1,200.

Taylor states that he did not pick up the car from the shop after the defendant surprised him with a $2,895.21 invoice for materials and services provided. As a result, EFI filed a lien to foreclose on the car.
