The Car Care Council Women’s Board (WB) raised more than $5,000 in its first-ever silent auction during the 2013 Women’s Board winter meeting, held Feb. 6-7 at the Caribe Royale in Orlando, Fla. Items for the auction were donated by WB associate companies and aftermarket supporters, and all proceeds will go to the WB scholarship fund, allowing the WB to award a record number of scholarships in 2013.

“A key objective of the WB is to support and encourage women pursuing a career in the automotive aftermarket. What better way are we able to do this than through the WB scholarship fund?” said Ruth Ehlinger, WB president. “We could not be more excited with the results achieved at our first-ever silent auction and we thank every individual and organization that contributed to its success.”

The Women’s Board will be giving away six scholarships to female students studying to enter the automotive aftermarket – three to post-secondary students and three to high school students. The Becky Babcox Women’s Board scholarship recipient, a post-secondary student, will receive $5,000 and a trip to the Automotive Aftermarket Products Expo (AAPEX) in Las Vegas. An additional post-secondary student will receive $2,500, and another will receive $2,000. The top high school senior recipient will receive $3,000, and two others will receive $1,500 and $1,000, respectively.

Other highlights of the day-and-a-half meeting included an association panel, an overview of new vehicle technology and 2012 automotive industry insights, along with networking opportunities and committee meetings. The 35 attendees also received .4 CEU credits.
