The Automotive Service Association (ASA) has announced it will host three free Service Information Workshops in North Carolina. Designed to educate shop owners and technicians about the availability of service information to automotive repair shops, the next workshops will be held in Charlotte July 15 at the Residence Inn Charlotte Uptown; Winston-Salem July 16 at the Courtyard Winston-Salem Hanes Mall; and Raleigh July 17 at the Raleigh Marriott Crabtree Valley. Additional information, including driving directions, is available online at www.ASAshop.org/KEYS.

“Attending a service information workshop is a great way to avoid the crisis of not having the information necessary to diagnose and repair today’s vehicles,” said Bill Haas, ASA’s vice president of education and training. “I expect shop owners will send their employees, helping them to remain productive and ultimately keeping their businesses profitable.”

The educational agenda includes discussions on computers and Internet resources necessary to access service information; manufacturer and third-party websites; diagnostic tools that may assist in handling a repair most efficiently; and the role of the National Automotive Service Task Force (NASTF). Attendees are encouraged to ask questions to address specific service information issues they have experienced. When space and equipment are available, these meetings may also include the opportunity for attendees to view a live vehicle reprogramming demonstration. Attendees are also eligible to participate in drawings for training videos and subscriptions to OEM service information websites.

ASA believes the current voluntary, industry-supported service information process protects independent repairers and consumers by allowing them access to the same information available to manufacturers and dealers. These workshops are part of ASA’s efforts to educate shop owners and technicians about current systems and how they can manage the many service information options available to them.

Additional workshops are scheduled for Pennsylvania, Oklahoma, Arizona, New Mexico, Nevada and Florida. For specific dates, locations and times, visit www.ASAshop.org/KEYS.

The Automotive Service Association is the largest not-for-profit trade association of its kind dedicated to and governed by independent automotive service and repair professionals. ASA serves an international membership base that includes numerous affiliate, state and chapter groups from both the mechanical and collision repair segments of the automotive service industry. ASA’s headquarters is in Bedford, TX.

ASA advances professionalism and excellence in the automotive repair industry through education, representation and member services. For additional information about ASA, including past news releases, go to www.ASAshop.org, or visit ASA’s legislative website at www.TakingTheHill.com.
