Sponsored by oil and air filter, coolant/antifreeze and spark plug manufacturers – FRAM, Prestone and Autolite – Top Fuel driver Spencer Massey finished runner-up this weekend in Pomona, CA, during the 47th-annual Automobile Club of Southern California National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) race.

Separated from the championship title by a mere four thousandths (.004) of a second – one of the closest contests – Massey saw his comeback season come to an end; however, this year’s success already has him looking ahead to the 2012 championship.

“This has been an incredible journey for Spencer and the FRAM/Prestone/Autolite Top Fuel dragster team, and reaching the championship race is the perfect culmination to an exceptional season,” said Duane Pekar, president of FRAM/Autolite. “Spencer’s talent and reaction time are unmatched, and we’re thrilled to have him represent us on the track. It was only a year ago that Massey, a 29-year-old Fort Worth, TX, native and 2009 NHRA rookie of the year, began his quest to get back on the track after sitting out the 2010 season. Massey is in just his second full season of Top Fuel competitions.
