Federal-Mogul Offers Track-Tested MOOG Chassis Parts for NASCAR-Spec Vehicles

Federal-Mogul Corporation has leveraged its MOOG steering and suspension brand's decades-long leadership in NASCAR Cup racing to offer high-performance chassis components for vehicles raced in NASCAR, ARCA, IMCA and other leading series.

Federal-Mogul Corporation has leveraged its MOOG steering and suspension brand’s decades-long leadership in NASCAR Cup racing to offer high-performance chassis components for vehicles raced in NASCAR, ARCA, IMCA and other leading series. MOOG chassis parts have helped steer each NASCAR Cup champion to victory for 45 consecutive seasons, including Jimmie Johnson’s record-setting five straight Cup titles.

The track-proven MOOG performance upper and lower ball joints and tie rods feature many of the same technologies that have made the brand the dominant choice of NASCAR crew chiefs. Each component is fitted with a threaded and pin-locked cover plate for maximum strength and uniformity. In addition, highly polished full-ball studs and CNC-machined housings help deliver the smooth, consistent stud articulation and unequalled concentricity needed in racing environments.  To further enhance product performance and durability, Federal-Mogul engineers utilize Belleville spring-steel washers to preload the internal bearings for optimal ball-to-bearing clearance.

“Our performance engineers work closely with leading Cup teams to develop and test each new generation of steering and suspension technology. The MOOG ball joints and tie rods bring our latest, innovative designs – each proven in the heat of competition – to a much larger market of teams, crew chiefs and drivers,” said Tim Nelson, motorsports director, Federal-Mogul.

The MOOG performance chassis line, available through the aftermarket from any leading MOOG supplier, includes the following parts:

#MP2001                     Inner tie rod end (right)
#MP2002                     Outer tie rod end (left)
#MP1004                     Upper ball joint
#MP1004S5                Upper ball joint (-.500-inch stud)
#MP1004L5                 Upper ball joint (+.005-inch stud)
#MP1005                     Lower ball joint
