Car Fires Overnight Tagged as Suspicious
Last Update: 6/14 8:33 pm
Just before 3 a.m. Monday, a Boardman police officer noticed a glow coming from a parking lot on Simon Road. When he went to look into it, he found five vehicles on fire in the parking lot of D and M Auto Repair. It took about an hour to put that fire out.
"You don’t have five vehicles on fire that quickly, unless somebody’s done it on purpose," said Boardman fire Chief Jim Dorman.
Damage is estimated at about $12,000. Investigators now are trying to pinpoint what and who caused that fire.
"Well we’re going to take samples out of the vehicles to see if we can detect a flammable liquid," said Dorman. "We’ll send materials to the fire marshall’s office down in Columbus for analysis."
