PHOENIX — Phoenix Police have arrested a man for auto theft after he allegedly posed as an auto mechanic and never returned victim vehicles.

Phoenix Police Sergeant Tommy Thompson said Kedrick Russell advertised on the internet as an Automotive Service Excellence Certified Mechanic, doing "affordable auto repairs."

According to Sergeant Thompson, a victim found Russell’s online ad in December 2009 and contacted him. The victim gave Russell his car and $1,150.00 for repairs. But in January, the victim couldn’t locate Russell nor find his car.

Earlier this week, police located and arrested Russell on charges of auto theft and several other warrents.

Detectives working this case have located another victim and they believe there may be more.

Police encourage anyone who may be a victim of Russell, or who may have more information about Russell’s activities, to contact Phoenix Police Detective Rachel Rohkohl (602) 262-6592.
