Autolite Offers its ‘Reaction Time Challenge’ for Technicians and Shop Owners

Simulated starting line experience tests drivers' reaction time against the pros.

Any experienced NHRA driver will tell you that a good jump off the starting line is key to winning a race. As the yellow lights descend on the Christmas Tree, every driver aims for that perfect reaction time of .000. Now, the Autolite team is offering auto repair technicians a chance to test their own reaction time at an official NHRA Race with its “Reaction Time Challenge” promotion.

To qualify, professional technicians must purchase a minimum of $400 worth of Autolite spark plugs within three consecutive months, between February 1 and September 1, 2010. Autolite will then provide two tickets to the nearest NHRA Race, hospitality passes and a certificate to compete in the “Reaction Time Challenge.”

Once at the race, qualifiers will be allowed to test their reaction time on a real Top Fuel Dragster simulator used by NHRA drivers. Contestants will be able to check their ranking at www.cpgraceresults.com and compare their reaction time to other contenders.

The top five qualifiers with the lowest reaction times will win an all expenses paid trip for two to the NHRA Finals in Pomona, CA, along with the opportunity to be an honorary Pit Crew Member for the day with Starting Line access (Approximate value $2,870).

“Not only are these contestants competing for a tremendous grand prize, but they’re also competing for bragging rights against the best of the best,” said Duane Pekar, director of global marketing for Autolite.

The grand prize winners will be determined in mid-October. Contestants must be 18 years or older and a qualified professional technician. For additional information or to apply for qualification, please see your Honeywell Commercial Sales Representative.
