AAIA Hosts Programs for Shop Owners at AAPEX

Panelists representing leading companies in electronic engine management systems will outline what they see as the most significant changes in engine management systems expected to be introduced in the next five years.

An industry expert panel discussion on “Future Electronic Engine Management Systems: Successful Shop Preparation” will be held from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at AAPEX in Las Vegas. The program, hosted by the Car Care Professionals Network (CCPN), a segment of AAIA, is open to all repair shop owners and managers.

Panelists representing leading companies in electronic engine management systems will outline what they see as the most significant changes in engine management systems expected to be introduced in the next five years, and how shop owners should prepare to handle these new computer controls. Shop owner panelists will provide their perspective on ways they can rise to the challenge. A Q&A period follows.

Panelists:
• Richard Johnson, Chief Engineer, Delphi Product and Services Solutions;
• Warren Suter, Director Product Management, Engine Systems Group, Robert Bosch LLC;
• Jim Gehl, Technical Services Instructor, Wells Manufacturing;
• Phil Fournier, Shop Owner; and
• Chris Klinger, Shop Owner and Contributing Writer, Babcox Publications.

Prior to the panel discussion from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., a stop at the AAIA “Shop of Tomorrow” will give shop owners the opportunity to see firsthand how business systems and equipment can seamlessly share work orders, customer, service and vehicle information, and diagnostic results through the i•Shop Web services. Using i•Shop enables results to be shared between computer stations, handheld devices and service point-of-sale.

During that same timeframe, shop owners can also get involved in Exclusive Exhibitor Visits, also hosted by CCPN. They will be escorted to participating exhibitors, where they can meet with leading product designers, specialists and engineers who will provide information on new products and programs, and respond to shop owner questions. Participating exhibitor companies include: Delphi Product and Services Solutions; Dorman Products; Robert Bosch LLC; and United Components, Inc. (Wells, Champ Labs, ASC, Airtex).

The programs are complimentary, but pre-registration is recommended by e-mailing [email protected].
