In the 2006 NASCAR racing season, a brand new range of world-class, high-performance braking system will be unveiled. Raybestos brand brakes and Alcon are collaborating to supply a complete engineered system solution to NASCAR teams for the 2006 NEXTEL Cup Series season. Raybestos’ association with NASCAR is extensive, with involvement in motorsports since 1957.

“After nearly 50 years, Raybestos has kept in step with the technological innovation required as NASCAR evolves and pushes the limits of speed and maneuverability,” said Ron Sledge, director of motorsports sales and race team relations for Affinia Group. “We are thrilled to work collaboratively with Alcon on a braking system that incorporates the latest advancements and improvements for the high-performance market.”

Teaming up with Alcon, an expert in the design and manufacture of high specification braking solutions for motorsports and high-performance vehicles, Raybestos will launch a complete braking system to the racing market. The comprehensive system will include racing calipers, rotors and hats, brake pads and hardware.

“Testing of the system began in 2005 and has proven very successful. The system is creating quite a stir among NASCAR teams,” said Terry Heffelfinger, director of product development for Affinia’s Under Vehicle Group. “We will supply the Robert Yates Racing team with our new system in 2006, and we anticipate a great demand when race teams see the definite advantage of our braking system on the track.”
