Schrader Bridgeport International, Inc. announces a new AirAware Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) Service DVD.
“Proper removal and installation is essential in performing TPMS repair or replacement,” said Schrader TPMS product manager David Weber. “It is very easy to damage delicate sensors if a tire technician isn’t careful.”
“We have produced a 35-minute DVD that offers a general overview of TPMS and details the recommended service procedures for removing and reinstalling TPMS sensors. Particular attention is given to proper removal of the bead and remounting of the tire to the wheel to avoid sensor damage,” Weber added. “The DVD also provides instruction on scan tool operation, the importance of replacing all TPMS components with new ones, correct torque wrench use and examples of re-learn procedures.”
“This DVD provides a useful training tool for tire repair shops, given the rapidly increasing number of TPMS-equipped vehicles,” said Weber.
Schrader is dedicated to insuring that TPMS vehicles are serviced properly by the independent tire technician. In addition to the training DVD, Schrader has 16 TIA-certified Automotive Tire Service Instructors.
Details on obtaining the Schrader TPMS DVD are available by contacting a Schrader sales representative or authorized AirAware distributor.
Schrader AirAware includes a full line of TPMS systems, components and tools that meet OE quality and performance specifications.
About TPMS
TPMS service and replacement is a growing market. Because TPMS provides enhanced safety and performance, the TREAD (Transportation Recall Enhancement, Accountability and Documentations) Act mandates that all passenger cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. be equipped with TPMS as standard equipment. The TREAD Act affects passenger cars, light trucks and buses less than 10,000 pounds gross vehicle weight. Twenty million vehicles are already equipped with TPMS and the number will grow in the coming years. The TREAD Act requires that 70 percent of 2007 models and 100 percent of 2008 models be equipped with TPMS.
