A Maryland body shop has produced a 22-minute TV pilot showing the real world of collision repair work. Unique Auto Body in Fallston hopes to show consumers across the country what goes on behind the scenes. Shop President/Owner Raymond Santiago says that his goal is to show viewers all aspects of the collision repair process.
Santiago noticed the growing number of automotive reality shows airing on TV, but none focused on collision repair. A crew filmed Unique Auto Body’s employees in summer 2007 and edited hours of footage into the concise pilot episode. The title for the proposed series is “WrexNFX.” Along with producing the pilot, Santiago has posted a commercial and promo for his shop on YouTube.
Unique Auto Body’s website also offers a virtual tour of the facility, including production areas and the lobby. Santiago uses this transparency to show uneasy consumers every side of the body shop. “Before they even come out, they can go on our website and take a look at our whole facility,” he says.
