Editor’s Notebook: Energize Your Businessby by Innovating…

Yet Remaining Steadfast in Your Mission

In today’s competitive service environment, you need to work both harder and smarter to stay ahead of the competition, fuel your profits and plan for your shop’s future viability. Concurrently with sourcing high-quality parts, delivering superior repairs and offering top-notch customer service, you also wrestle with tough shop management issues on a daily basis ‹ things like rising insurance costs, shop productivity, time management, the increasing costs of doing business, retaining customers, tech training and keeping up with technology.

As you divide your time between working “in” and “on” your business, you also work on other important business-building elements. Shop image and reputation, and making good first impressions with customers, should take center stage in your quest to grow your business.

And, just as your shop evolves and innovates to be at the forefront in your market, so too has ImportCar.

Beginning this month, we’ve energized ImportCar with a new look. Over the years, ImportCar has been your trusted source for technical information on import vehicles. Within the pages of every issue, diagnostic, troubleshooting and repair information has helped you service imports with greater precision and accuracy. With each issue, our goal is to make the magazine a highly resourceful tool in your repair arsenal. Our redesign offers a fresh, cohesive, easy-to-follow format to better serve you – our loyal readers. But, the solid content you’ve come to expect still remains, covering the predominant service work you perform on a daily basis, and the nameplates in which you specialize. You will notice a revamped and expanded contents page (now in a two-page format), eye-catching headers to identify the magazine’s various columns and departments, new page layouts and feature treatments, and an enhanced product showcase section where you can read about new products and services from suppliers to the aftermarket.

In addition, some of the departments have been renamed to better reflect their content. For example, our ever-popular Servicing Imports section is now called “Import Tech Tips.” And, the name of our informative news section has been changed from World Perspectives to “News Update.”

So, while our packaging has changed a bit, our core editorial will continue to be your expert source of technical information to repair import vehicles.

You can count on that!

Remember that as you work on ways to energize your shop this year, don’t lose sight of your core competencies and the framework within which you’ve built your business. You’ve got in place what it takes to succeed; you might just want to kick things up a notch.
