Bartec USA, a North American provider of TPMS diagnostic tools and solutions, has announced the addition of 23 vehicles whereby the Tech400Pro and Tech500 can adjust the recommended inflation pressure (RIP or placard). Seven of these additions are brand-new coverage. This update, numbered 54.2, is available to current subscribers to tools.bartecusa.com.
“Having the ability to adjust a vehicle’s recommended inflation pressure when up-fitting or plus-sizing remains a very important feature according to automotive service providers and tire retailers that we speak to,” said to Scot Holloway, CEO of Bartec USA. “Bartec is working every day to drive this coverage forward, because it is a game-changer for TPMS and it’s a huge opportunity for service providers in the aftermarket.”
Bartec advises that it is best practice that whenever wheel and tire combinations are either plus-sized, or up-fitted like moving from a “P” rated tire to an “LT” tire, the RIP should be changed in order to maintain the same load carry capacity for the vehicle. This applies to cars and light trucks. When the RIP changes, the TPMS must be recalibrated, otherwise the trigger point for low tire pressure will not be accurate. Adjusting the vehicle’s RIP keeps the TPMS operative and the consumer safe, says the company.
Bartec will be demonstrating this new process as well as a number of new products at this year’s SEMA and AAPEX shows. Visit the Bartec booths to register for one of five Tech400Pro Master Kits to be given away as part of in booth drawing.
