When your customer comes in with a burned out or dim headlight bulb, think twice, or better yet, think in pairs and recommend replacing both bulbs. Replacing just the failed bulb can create an unbalanced or unpredictable headlight beam. The road ahead will not be properly lit and the driver will not get the full benefit of the vehicle’s headlights. Plus, oncoming drivers may not see the car as easily and could confuse it with a single-headlight vehicle, such as a motorcycle or a scooter.

Replacing important auto parts in pairs is not a new concept, especially with important safety items such as tires, brakes, shocks and wipers. Lighting is no different. Most drivers are not aware that headlight bulbs tend to deteriorate and fade over time, usually a period of two to three years. As the bulb filament ages with use, time and exposure to the elements, the bulbs do not emit as much light as they did when they were new. Don’t compromise on safety, change bulbs in pairs. Two new headlamps are safer than one.
