After removing the old brake pads, select the proper adapter and install it on the 3/8″ square end of the pusher screw. Place the tool in the caliper. Squeeze the tool handle until the backing plate pushes against the caliper and the adapter and its pins seat against the piston.

Use a 9/16″ wrench or ratchet and 9/16″ socket to turn the shaft until the piston bottoms in its bore. Continue squeezing the tool handle while turning the shaft to keep the adapter seated on the piston.

For pistons that do not require rotation, keep the brake pad on the piston and press against the pad with the pinless adapter. Squeeze the handle until the piston is fully compressed.

Adapter 1A – 1-1/2″ (narrow pins) most Honda, Mazda, Dodge, Mitsubishi and 1-1/2″ GM models.

Adapter 1B – 1-1/2″ (wide pins) most Ford, Toyota and some Pontiac models.

Adapter 2A – 1-5/8″ most Nissan/Datsun and Subaru models.

Adapter 2B – 1-5/8″ Mazda 3, some Jaguar and some Mini Cooper models.

Pinless Adapter – Front brakes that do not require the piston to be rotated back into the caliper.
