SKF’s primary colors will be showcased this Sunday, April 21st when Sam Hornish, Jr. gets behind the wheel of the No. 12 SKF Ford Fusion for the STP 400 Sprint Cup race at Kansas Speedway.
“I’m excited to get back on the track in the Sprint Cup Series with SKF this weekend in Kansas,” said Hornish, Jr. “We’re confident that we have a strong, competitive car that can compete this weekend, and we’ll look to put SKF in Victory Lane with the No. 12 Ford Fusion.”
Sunday’s race will be the first of two appearances for the SKF Ford Fusion, the other being at Talladega on October 20th during the Chase for the Sprint Cup Championship. Hornish, Jr. will be joined by current NASCAR Sprint Cup Champion Brad Keselowski and first-year Penske Racing driver Joey Logano as part of the SKF Racing team that will take part in Sunday’s Sprint Cup race. The race will be telecast beginning at 1:00 p.m. ET, on the FOX Network.
SKF will also be a co-primary sponsor for the No. 22 Ford Mustang for the Nationwide Series race at Richmond International Raceway on Friday, April 26th. In addition, SKF is an associate sponsor of Helio Castroneves’ IndyCar entry.
SKF and Penske Racing are in the second season of a multi-year racing partnership that saw Brad Keselowski win the Sprint Cup Championship last year in the partnership’s inaugural season.
Thus far in the 2013 season, the SKF Racing/Penske team leads both the Nationwide Series and IndyCar standings and is running a strong effort in Sprint Cup competition.
As a technical partner to the entire Penske Racing organization, SKF brings its world-class knowledge of reducing friction to both the NASCAR and IndyCar racing arenas. Partnering since November 2011, SKF and Penske Racing have over 25 different application and development projects, drawing from all five of SKF’s technology competence areas: bearings, seals, lubrication, mechatronics and services.
