The addition of the balance belt won’t cause any problems as long as it’s timed correctly and the counterweights are in the proper position when the belts are installed. There are access holes in the block that allow you to insert a punch or screwdriver to ensure the weights are at the bottom of the shaft, but they are not always necessary.

Before replacing a power steering oil pump for a “whine” noise condition, check the oil pump reservoir filter screen for contamination. If the filter screen at the bottom of the oil pump reservoir is clogged, it may cause the pump to aerate and produce a “whine” noise.

BorgWarner supplies its leading turbocharging technology for Hyundai’s new 1.6-liter turbocharged gasoline direct injection (T-GDI) engine. Available in the U.S. for the Veloster Turbo passenger car, the turbocharged engine features a maximum output of 150 kW (204 HP), an increase of 46 percent compared with Hyundai’s standard 1.6-liter GDI engine. The Veloster Turbo has also been available in Europe since October 2012.

The front suspension is a MacPherson strut setup. The lower control arm isolates harshness and vibration with a large bushing in the front. Always inspect this bushing for damage. Look for any separation of the rubber from the metal. Always make note of tire wear. If a customer does not rotate the tires, the stock tires would wear the inside edges. This is normal.

Most often, a Hyundai with a cooling system issue will find its way to your shop for a few reasons. One is the temperature gauge is reading higher than normal. Of course, that assumes the customer is aware they have a gauge.
