The new tire, designated the D2681, employs a new tread compound, but no other changes to the existing tire. The new compound, Goodyear’s D2F, has been developed from the same compound family as the current compound.
Goodyear Recalls 400,000 Tires
Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. is voluntarily recalling some 400,000 associate and private brand passenger tires the company produced between 2003 and 2006. The tires in question – size P215/70R14 – were produced under 23 different brand names, including Goodyear house or associate brands Kelly-Springfield, Douglas, Mohave and Republic. The tires were sold in the U.S. and Canada.
Auction Features Signed Goodyear Race Tires
Goodyear is providing 43 autographed race-used Goodyear Eagle tires for an auction that will benefit the NASCAR Foundation. The race-used tires will feature autographs by 43 NASCAR Nextel Cup drivers. Each autographed race-used tire will come with a certificate of authenticity that includes the driver’s name and car number, the race in which the tire was used, the driver’s finish in that race and the tire’s RFID number.
