A team of professionals from Schrader Electronics hit the road in a specially outfitted Toyota Prius this week to spread the word about the company’s new TPMS EZ-Sensor. After kicking off their “Easy Drive to SEMA” Tour in Detroit, the team made a pit stop at the Akron, OH, headquarters of Babcox Media to meet with Babcox editors and show off their new product.

The tour was created to get the message out about EZ-Sensor — the company’s fully programmable TPMS sensor and reprogramming tool — which was co-developed by Schrader and Bartec.

This was one of several stops the company will make on its 6,400-mile road trip cross country to highlight the durability of its new product. All four wheels of the Prius have been outfitted with the sensors, and the vehicle includes a station in the back where Schrader can demonstrate the functionality of the sensors and the reprogramming tool.

“This really is showing the durability of the product,” said Carl Wacker, vice president of sales and marketing at Schrader, a Tomkins company. “Just stick it on the car and go.”

Initial launch of the product offers 60 percent coverage of all foreign and domestic vehicles on the road with TPMS and will eventually provide 90 percent coverage, according to Wacker.

The tour will make a minimum of two stops each day to visit with tire dealer and distributor customers and two stops a day to meet with consumers. The tour will make its final stop at the SEMA Show Nov. 2-5 in Las Vegas.
