Ingersoll Rand Introduces New Tools with Bite at Media Event and ISN Show

As a precursor to the ISN Tool Dealer Expo in Orlando, Ingersoll Rand hosted a media event to officially introduce its new 2015MAX and 2025MAX Hammerhead low-profile Impactools.

The tool is designed for optimal performance, even in extremely confined spaces. With a head-height less than 2”, 180 ft.-lb. of max torque and 7,100 rpm of speed, the Hammerhead offers the power of an impact, and all the capabilities of a ratchet.

“With the introduction of the Hammerhead, the combination of maximum power, control and access now allows technicians to use an Ingersoll Rand Impactool for virtually any application,” said Adam Brown, global portfolio manager at Ingersoll Rand. “Technicians will be able to accomplish tasks in minutes that once would have taken hours.”

For example, in field tests, technicians saved almost two hours on a crankshaft balancer bolt change. With the Hammerhead there was no need to remove (and then reinstall) the radiator to get to the bolt. Other recommended applications were for ball joint nuts, suspension work, and changing engine mount and bellhousing bolts.

In addition to this combination of access and power, the Hammerhead also features a conveniently located forward/reverse collar, providing unrestricted access to easily change the direction of the tool in tight spaces, where traditional tools frequently get jammed. Knuckle-saver reactionless torque eliminates kickback, and further protects technicians’ hands while working in confined spaces.

The Hammerhead is available in 3/8” and 1/2” drive (2015MAX and 2025MAX, respectively).

The Ingersoll Rand booth at the ISN show was swarmed with prospective buyers. A demo area (pictured) let attendees try the Hammerhead out for themselves.

Also at the IR booth was DJ Copp, owner of a pit crew training facility, OTWcrew.com (Over the Wall Crew), located in Mooresville, NC. Students from all over the U.S who aspire to be over the wall professionals can train at Copp’s facility.

As part of IR’s Hammerhead media event, attendees were treated to a ride in a Top Fuel dragster. NHRA Top Fuel Driver Doug Herbert (above) signed autographs and spoke to the group about his career and his BRAKES program, a non-profit organization that raises awareness among teenagers and their parents about the importance of safe driving. Herbert started the program in honor of his two sons, who were killed in a tragic car accident in January 2008.

Herbert’s enthusiasm for the BRAKES program and racing was evident throughout the hot day in Florida as he assisted the “amateur racers” into the back seats of a three-seat dragster, before a breath-taking ride down the track at Orlando Speed World. The dragster was driven by Roy Hill, a former drag racer, who has won 12 IHRA Pro Stock events, and as a car owner, won the 1995 IHRA Championship with driver Mike Bell. Hill now focuses his efforts on his driving school, Roy Hill’s Drag Racing School in North Carolina.
