The Engine Repower Council (ERC) is launching a consumer awareness poster campaign. The new poster, titled “Engines Repowered Here,” is designed to stimulate consumer interest about the many benefits provided by a remanufactured/rebuilt engine.

The ERC poster provides a visual resource a shop can use to promote the quality, reliability and savings provided to their customers with a remanufactured/rebuilt engine.

“If a consumer’s car or truck is experiencing major engine damage, but is otherwise in relatively good shape, repowering it with a remanufactured/rebuilt engine is not only an environmentally sound decision, but it will also help stretch their dollars at the gas pump,” said ERC Chairman Steve Rich.

With repowering, a consumer’s engine or an identical one from another like-vehicle, is completely remanufactured/rebuilt. Also, unlike installing a used or junkyard engine with an unknown performance and maintenance history, critically important internal parts are replaced with new ones that meet or exceed original equipment performance standards.

Not infrequently, remanufactured/rebuilt engines solve original engine operating problems with redesigned and/or higher quality replacement parts. They are dependable, reliable and backed by excellent warranty programs that also usually cover installation expenses.

“By reducing purchases of new vehicles and repowering the ones we already own, we can significantly reduce the impact on the environment,” said Rich. “Engine repowering saves a tremendous amount of energy used in the processing of discarded engines and vehicles. It also saves an incredible amount of raw materials required in the manufacturing of new engines.

“The new ERC posters are designed to lead consumers to ask questions which will allow shop owners the opportunity to educate their customers about the many benefits of repowering their vehicle with a remanufactured/rebuilt engine,” concluded Rich.
