At a press conference last week during Automotive Service Repair Week (ASRW) in New Orleans, NASTF announced a new technician outreach initiative.
The NASTF Technician Outreach campaign will focus on two primary elements: Expand the number of events where NASTF will mingle, in person, with technicians; and drive techs to the NASTF website, where they will ultimately navigate to helpful OEM resources.
NASTF wants to connect directly with more of the estimated 775,000 professional technicians in the United States. Today, there are fewer than 2,500 technicians participating in NASTF, according to the group.
“NASTF is the unique link between the independent auto service industry and the OEM service support teams where valuable information, tools and education resources reside,” said Skip Potter, NASTF executive director. “Techs at non-franchise shops need to know how to use NASTF but it’s up to us to tell them we are here.”
As part of its outreach initiative, NASTF announced it will participate in the 21st Annual VISION HiTech Training & Expo 2013 next March at the Overland Park Convention Center in Kansas City. NASTF will hold its Spring 2013 NASTF General Meeting on March 8 at the event, and the NASTF Board of Directors also will hold its monthly meeting during the VISION event. NASTF representatives also will be available on the event’s trade show floor.
NASTF will award a special prize for one lucky technician who registers at www.nastf.org before March 11, 2013. NASCAR crew chief legend Leonard Wood is to be inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame in February 2013, and NASTF will draw one name to receive a pair of limited edition mechanic’s gloves signed for NASTF by Wood.
