A 1999-2002 model with a 2.8L VR6 engine may experience transmission slips and then shift hard into gear during the 2nd to 3rd shift. The cause may be the Transmission Control Module (TCM) software.
Service Procedure:
1. If the transmission diagnosis does not indicate repairs are necessary, install new TCM P/N 01M 927 733 MP (software level 5060).
Note: The “MP” suffix part supersedes P/N 01M 927 733 with suffix-DJ, JS, KR, MB and MH.
2. After TCM replacement, using the VAS 5051 or VAS 5052, check and erase any DTCs and set basic settings.
