All hub flanges have some degree of runout. This is why there are tolerances in the service specification.

A flange may have up to .005” of runout, but it is impossible to see the damage with the naked eye. This is why measuring the hub flange with a dial indicator is essential when replacing a wheel bearing, axle shaft or brake rotor. This video is sponsored by GSP North America.
