Vehicle Stability Control Training Video Available From AVI

Dave Scaler goes in-depth on Anti-Lock Braking (ABS) and Electronic Stability (ESC) system diagnostics in this class. This course starts with an explanation on how ABS systems work and how information from the wheel speed sensors is turned into valve/pump commands in the Hydraulic Control Unit (HCU).

Vehicle Stability Control, the latest training class from AVI with Dave Scaler, is now available! Electronic stability control, often referred to as anti-skid, goes by many names: GM StabiliTrac; Ford AdvanceTrac; and Chrysler’s Electronic Stability Program (ESP). Other names include Vehicle Dynamics Control (Subaru), Dynamic Stability Control (Volvo), Vehicle Stability Assist (Honda), and Vehicle Stability Control (Toyota). No matter what they call it, a stability control system uses an array of sensors to detect a loss of traction in a vehicle. Combining the ABS with lateral and longitudinal G Sensors, Steering Angle Sensors and Electronic Throttle Control, the goal is to keep the vehicle on its intended path. This course will cover how it works, what goes wrong and how to fix them.

Next, Scaler tackles the steering angle, accelerometers and yaw sensor functions, testing and real world diagnostics for ESC systems. This video class will make diagnosing ESC and ABS system faster and more profitable by covering how it works, what goes wrong and how to fix them.

This video course covers the following topics:

•  Passive wheel speed sensor testing;

•  Active wheel speed sensor testing;

•  Unwanted ABS activation;

•  Brake thermal limiters and fade compensation;

•  Steering angle sensor diagnostics and resetting procedures;

•  CAN Bus ESC sensors and module diagnostics;

•  Accelerometer diagnostics;

•  Yaw sensor testing; and

•  Roll over mitigation systems.
