OGDEN — Ogden police were busy Monday night and early Tuesday morning investigating a string of vehicle and business burglaries, including one in which a thief drove a truck through the bay doors of an auto repair shop.
That incident was reported after 4 a.m. Authorities say someone broke into the business at 1690 Wall Ave., then fled in a white 1999 Dodge truck that was parked inside by backing it out through a large service door.
The crash damaged both the business and the truck. The vehicle is reportedly registered to an Eden resident and was in the shop for repairs. Police believe the back bumper of the truck sustained some damage.
Authorities also are investigating a similar burglary that was reported just before that at Firestone Complete Auto Care on Washington Boulevard near 17th Street. The thief took tools and tires in that case, but was scared off by an alarm, said Lt. Danielle Croyle.
