Tenneco Announces New Walker Exhaust Coverage for Import and Domestic Nameplates

For the third consecutive year, Tenneco Inc. in 2007 will add hundreds of new SKUs to its Walker exhaust product line, demonstrating the brand's commitment to exceptional coverage of North American passenger vehicles. For the third consecutive year, Tenneco Inc. in 2007 will add hundreds of new SKUs to its Walker exhaust product line, demonstrating the brand’s commitment to exceptional coverage of North American passenger vehicles. The Walker brand represents a "one-stop" solution for distributors and service dealers interested in growing their share of the emission-control category.

Tenneco will introduce more than 650 additional replacement catalytic converters, exhaust assemblies, mufflers and other components for late-model passenger applications next year. The company has added more than 1,150 foreign-nameplate and domestic SKUs to the Walker product line since 2004.

"Tenneco and the Walker brand are committed to offering both the best coverage and the best direct-fit replacement exhaust components for today’s aftermarket distributors and service providers," said Frank Murkowski, marketing manager, North American emission control, Tenneco. "We encourage exhaust professionals to take a look at which manufacturer is investing in the future of their businesses by offering the OE-style components they need for all makes and models."

Among the new SKUs for 2007 will be approximately 130 additional Walker Quiet-Flow3 mufflers and welded exhaust assemblies, more than 150 direct-fit Walker converters, 50 Walker SoundFX mufflers, and 80 performance products offered under Tenneco’s popular DynoMax performance exhaust brand. The company’s growing emphasis on import coverage is reflected in the fact that nearly 140 of next year’s new SKUs cover foreign-nameplate applications. Walker introduced 133 new foreign-nameplate SKUs and published its first imports-only catalog in 2006.

"We understand that coverage helps drive installation opportunities for the service provider, especially when a growing number of foreign-nameplate vehicles are entering prime repair age," Murkowski said. "By relying on Walker, these shops can be confident they’ll have the premium direct-fit components needed to quickly restore the OE-style sound and performance expected by the owners of import vehicles."

The Walker brand’s coverage of foreign-nameplate applications is aided by Tenneco’s status as one of the world’s largest manufacturers of original equipment exhaust systems and components. Rather than having to "reverse-engineer" an OE exhaust system for a foreign-nameplate vehicle, Walker application engineers often can rely on the OE prints and product tooling from Tenneco’s global Starla and Gillet brands.
