VILLAGE OF WESTON — A car was seriously damaged Wednesday during a fire at a Weston automobile repair shop.

The fire was reported at about 12:30 p.m. at Auto Select, 3103 Schofield Ave.

The fire started when sparks from a cutting torch used by a mechanic repairing a vehicle ignited oil or fuel in a drain on the north end of the building, Weston Fire Chief Steve Meilahn said.
