Prospective participants in the new Automotive Lift Institute (ALI) Lift Inspector Certification Program only have a few more months to take advantage of a half-price discount on registration. The signup fee sale, which reduced the price from $2,000 to $1,000, expires Sept. 30, 2013.

The fee covers a single candidate’s program application, extensive printed course materials and attendance for one company representative at a scheduled participant orientation workshop. All participating organizations with at least one certified inspector on staff will also receive associate class membership in ALI for the remaining calendar year, starting at the time of certification completion of the first candidate.

“There’s never been a better time to sign up for the program,” said R.W. “Bob” O’Gorman, ALI president. “If you join now, you will pay half-price for all the benefits. Plus, you can offer certified lift inspections before your competitors. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be among the first certified lift inspectors.”

Once a candidate registers and pays the non-refundable fee, he or she must work through several steps before achieving certification. Candidates must attend a Participant’s Orientation, pass both the Pre-Course Exam and Course Exam, and then conduct 12 Practical Experience Inspections of vehicle lifts.

Register online and take advantage of the discount at the ALI Store. Just visit www.autolift.org/store.php and select the “Automotive Lift Inspector Program – Participant Application, Initiation Fee” product. To register more than one candidate, call ALI headquarters at (607) 756-7775.

The ALI Lift Inspector Certification Program was created to provide third-party qualification of vehicle lift inspectors and to certify those who demonstrate that they are capable of properly inspecting vehicle lifts in accordance with the ANSI standard and in support of OSHA’s General Duty Clause, as well as provincial requirements in Canada. Detailed materials can be found at www.autolift.org/certified-inspectors.
