Point of View: A Messy Toolbox Is Wasting Your Time — and Money

Point of View: A Messy Toolbox Is Wasting Your Time — and Money

I recently had the opportunity to test out new 12-volt cordless tools at the Matco Tools Expo.

I wanted to take the time to discuss with you some of the new things you may have seen in this issue of TechShop and some things to come in future issues.

First off, as you saw on page 23 of our April 2012 issues (or click here to see more), we are launching a “Get Organized” contest sponsored by Mechanic’s Time Savers (MTS). This contest could bring you $1,000 in MTS organizational tools! These tools can save you so much time and, let’s face it, time is money!

Are you constantly wasting time hunting for tools in your messy toolbox? For you to be productive, your tools have to be right at your fingertips when you need them. An organized toolbox helps you get your job done faster, which means more money in your pocket.

Tool organizers mean you won’t have to rummage through a drawer full of loose wrenches or sockets. They also help you keep track of your tools. A missing socket or wrench is instantly obvious in a well-organized tool storage system.

Check out the MTS website to see the company’s inventory of innovative tools and organizers, such as the Magna-Caddy and Magna-Rail, at www.mechanicstimesavers.com.

Entering the contest is simple…just e-mail Jennifer Clements, the editor, at [email protected] and send a picture of your messy toolbox along with a short reason for why you should be selected. Who knows, you may be a winner!

If you get your entries in before May 18, you and your messy toolbox could be featured in our June issue. The top 5 worst toolboxes and the winner will be announced in the August issue along with our feature article on Getting Organized. Keep a close watch on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/TechShopMag, for posts on the contest.

ENTER RIGHT NOW!! Good luck to all of you!

Also, I am sending a call out to each and every one of you! Coming in the next issue of TechShop, which is the June issue, I will be responding to you, the reader, about your concerns and comments.

Take a couple minutes out of your busy day and drop me a quick e-mail about something that is on your mind and I will respond to you and hopefully the topic will get published in an upcoming issue. What’s going on in your day? What are the challenges and the struggles? Or perhaps the latest industry debate? We will address the topic! Just drop me an e-mail at [email protected]

Goofy Traffic Laws

Here are some of the wackiest rules you might not have heard about in Driver’s Ed.

As I was driving home from work the other day, I noticed numerous vehicles pulled over by Highway Patrolmen. I thought the amount of traffic stops seemed much higher than normal, when it dawned on me – Ohio’s new Distracted Driving Law went into effect on April 4.

For the next six months, officers will pull drivers over and issue warnings about using their phones while driving. In October, you will actually get a ticket for texting and talking while driving.
