AAM, a leading manufacturer of axle components, driveshaft components and repair kits for OE vehicles, has announced the availability of its TracRite GT helical gear designed limited slip style differential case (AAM part #40099548) made for the 11.5” rear axle used in 3/4- and one-ton 2003-2012 Ram and 2001-2011 Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra trucks.

SKF Adds 18 New Differential Kit Part Numbers To Its Drivetrain Product Line

SKF has announced the addition of 18 new part numbers to its line of SKF differential kits. The new part numbers, available in either a standard kit (prefix SDK) or master kit (suffix MK), include a range of rear differential kits for Chevy/GMC, Cadillac, Dodge and Ford applications.

Tech Feature: Care and Feeding of Differentials

The lubricants that are used in manual transmissions, transaxles, differentials and transfer cases include a variety of different oils. Many transmissions, transaxles and transfer cases use gear oil with viscosities ranging from 75W-90 up to 85W-140. Others use ATF (Dexron II/III, Mercon V, etc.) or even motor oil (10W-30 or 10W-40). Most differentials, by comparison, use hypoid gear oils that also contain extra amounts of “extreme pressure” (EP) additives.

Tech Tip: Abnormal Noise from Toyota’s Rear Differential

Some customers may complain about an abnormal noise from the rear of the vehicle that increases in volume as vehicle speed increases. The noise is commonly described as a whining, humming, roaring or growling noise. The source of the noise may be a damaged transmission coupling assembly and two ball bearing assemblies. Follow the repair procedure in this TSB to diagnose and repair this condition.

Honda Tech Tip: Rear Differential Moan or Groan

On 2002-’07 CR-Vs with 4WD, a moaning or groaning noise may come from the rear differential when making a sharp or tight turn at low speeds. This condition may be caused due to contamination in the rear differential fluid.

Nissan Tech Tip: Diagnosing a Worn A/T Differential Pinion Shaft

Debris from a worn differential pinion mate shaft on Nissan vehicles can cause slipping on acceleration, hesitation and/or stalling when cold, and abnormal noise coming from the transmission while driving ….

Tech Tip: Worn A/T Differential Pinion Shaft on Nissan Vehicles

Debris from a worn differential pinion mate shaft can cause slipping on acceleration, hesitation and/or stalling when cold, and abnormal noise coming from the transmission while driving.

Nissan Tech Tip: Worn A/T Differential Pinion Shaft

Debris from a worn differential pinion mate shaft can cause the following: slipping on acceleration; hesitation and/or stalling when cold; and abnormal noise coming from the transmission while driving. A countermeasure transmission differential case, with improved lubrication to the differential pinion mate shaft, has been developed to resolve these types of transmission incidents.
