New Car Models Added To Exide’s Battery Replacement Tool

EXIDEExide Technologies has introduced what it described as a “sweeping upgrade” to its award-winning BRT-12 battery replacement tool. The device now supports more than 40 additional models, including a number of Start-Stop vehicles.

Cars with Start-Stop make up 15 percent of the European car parc, and this will reach 50 percent within the next five years. Many Start-Stop vehicles require a device to replace batteries, making the BRT-12 increasingly popular among workshops.

According to Exide, the BRT-12 costs around 80 percent less than full diagnostic equipment, and lets you replace batteries and clear faults from the dashboard. The device won Professional Motor Mechanic’s Top Product Award 2013, and was judged to “have made a real difference” in the lives of independent garage technicians.

The upgrade is free for existing BRT-12 users. They can access the update by plugging the device into their computer’s USB port. They are then guided through the complete upgrade process.

“Exide is committed to the success of our aftermarket partners,” said Michael Geiger, VP sales & marketing EMEA at Exide Technologies. “With this latest upgrade, they will reach more customers, win more business and drive down costs.”
