New Automotive Reality TV Series ‘NASCAR Angels’ to Premiere in 95% of the U.S. the Week of September 18

Hosted by former NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Champion and current ABC/ESPN broadcaster Rusty Wallace and reporter Shannon Wiseman, "NASCAR Angels" will set out each week to find deserving Americans and fix their cars.

The National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing (NASCAR), in partnership with MagicDust Television, will officially launch the automotive reality television series “NASCAR Angels” this fall with the first episode airing the week of Sept. 18 on local stations nationwide.

Hosted by former NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Champion and current ABC/ESPN broadcaster Rusty Wallace and reporter Shannon Wiseman, “NASCAR Angels” will set out each week to find deserving Americans and fix their cars. The new half-hour, weekly syndicated television series will shoot 22 original episodes on location in major NASCAR race markets and will feature top NASCAR drivers and crew chiefs giving deserving families the chance to go behind-the-scenes to meet their heroes and get an up-close-and-personal glimpse into the NASCAR experience while their car is looked after by the Angels – in this case professional automotive technicians.

“The reason we set out to create a show like NASCAR Angels was to address three critical issues our industry faces today,” said Odis Lloyd, NASCAR’s managing director of automotive licensing. “The industry’s image; need for technician recruitment; and to continue to educate consumers about regular vehicle maintenance. We believe Angels hits those issues head on in a very positive way.”

Goodyear Gemini Automotive Repair is a presenting sponsor and their technicians will be prominently featured throughout the season using NASCAR Performance Partner products to repair the vehicles. AERO Exhaust is also a sponsor of the program and will be featured prominently throughout the season.

Distributed by Litton Entertainment, “NASCAR Angels” has cleared more than 95 percent of the country including ABC-owned stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Philadelphia, Houston as well as WSB (ABC) in Atlanta, and many more highly respected broadcast stations. Superstation WGN will also be carrying NASCAR Angels as a one-hour block set for Sundays Noon-1:00 p.m. EST.

“On ‘NASCAR Angels’, you’ll meet people dedicated to helping others who could use a helping hand themselves,” said Phil Alvidrez, MagicDust Television’s general manager. “They struggle everyday to get to work, take the kids to school or make it to a doctor’s appointment because they can’t keep the family car moving. ‘NASCAR Angels’ is a television show that will change those lives.”

NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series drivers including Kasey Kahne, Greg Biffle and Jamie McMurray will appear on the program. Crew chiefs such as Doug Richert, Greg Zipadelli and Tommy Baldwin Jr., will participate as well.

“NASCAR Angels” will complement the consumer education efforts of the automotive industry’s “Be Car Care Aware” campaign and the Fall release of its new Car Care Guide – a first-of-its-kind reference guide for motorists which covers typical service occasions and major components, systems and parts with service interval recommendations, a maintenance log and more. The original 22 episodes, which the number one rated stations in seven of the top 10 markets have agreed to carry, will be shot in Orlando/Daytona Beach, Chicago, Los Angeles, Charlotte, Dallas, Phoenix, Atlanta and Philadelphia.
