Ingersoll Rand, known in NASCAR pits for their “thundergun” pneumatic impact wrench, recently launched the IQV Series of cordless impacts and drill/drivers. Their relationship with Evernham Motorsports proved to be not only a huge marketing vehicle, but a unique setting to test the new cordless tools.

As an associate sponsor of Evernham Motorsports, Ingersoll Rand tested the new IQV Series cordless tools with Evernham Motorsports technicians and gained critical feedback to the tools’ development.

One critical issue was convenience. After using the new cordless tools for a couple of weeks, Evernham Motorsports technicians stressed the need for extended anvils for hard to reach bolts. Armed with this information, Ingersoll Rand engineers moved the development of the extended anvil options higher on the product launch priority list. The recently released W360 extended-anvil cordless tool is the first of its kind on the market and features an additional 3/4" anvil.

Overwhelming feedback from Evernham technicians indicated that charge level meters on the batteries were a favorite feature. This feedback led to the meters being installed as a standard feature on all lithium-ion batteries.

The IQV Series now includes 19 different tool models, six battery models, a universal battery charger, battery analyzer and a full line of accessories.
