Mopar Performance Parts announced a new year-long program to recognize the most passionate and skilled Mopar enthusiasts and their restored cars. Eight owners will be named “Top Eliminators” and will accompany their vehicles to the 2007 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas.

A Mopar Performance Parts committee will choose five of the eight winners at the following 2007 events.

  • Autorama at Cobo Center, Detroit – March 9–11;
  • Mopars at the Strip, Las Vegas – March 30–April 1;
  • Chryslers at Carlisle, Carlisle, PA – July 6–8;
  • Mopar Nationals, Columbus – Aug. 11–13; and
  • Woodward Dream Cruise (MI) – Aug. 18.

Each editor of Mopar Muscle, Mopar Action, and Mopar Collector’s Guide will choose one winner during the year they believe best represents the passion of restoration.

“We want to identify true enthusiasts who put their heart, soul and passion into a project — people who do much of the work themselves. We think their vehicles truly represent the ‘Mopar’ brand,” said David Hakim, portfolio manager, Mopar Performance Parts. He added, “We’ll have our work cut out for us — given the passion, quality and innovation we’ve seen at Mopar shows lately.”

Winners will be chosen based on the following criteria:

  • Originality/Survivor – Time capsule of Mopar’s muscle car heritage;
  • Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) Gold Certification – Restoring and saving a vintage Mopar muscle car while passing the stringent OEM judging criteria;
  • Resto Modified – Ingenuity in applying modern technology to an older Mopar muscle car; and
  • Vintage Race Car – Preserving Mopar’s illustrious racing heritage.

Acknowledged at the SEMA show during the Mopar press conference, the owners and their cars will also be displayed in Mopar Alley. Each car will be identified with a plaque and the owners will receive a Mopar jacket for recognition.
