Exxon Mobil has unveiled “Under the Hood with Tony and Mobil 1,” a consumer-guided program that gives racing fans a chance to meet three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Champion Tony Stewart and change the oil on a classic car from Smoke’s personal collection. The winning fan will perform a Mobil 1 oil change alongside Stewart himself at the NASCAR driver’s private garage in Columbus, Ind., on May 7.

“Not only am I a professional NASCAR driver, I’m a collector who loves classic GM cars and I can’t wait to share part of my personal collection with the fans,” said Stewart, driver of the No. 14 Mobil 1/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet SS. “Like last year’s ‘Choose Tony’s Ride with Mobil 1,’ I’m leaving it up to the fans to decide what car is their favorite. Better yet, I’ll have a garage assistant for the day that can help me with a Mobil 1 oil change in the winning classic. There’s no other brand of motor oil that I would trust in my personal collection, and I’m looking forward to sharing the experience with one of my lucky fans.”

The program allows fans to choose which of Stewart’s vehicles will benefit from the protection and performance of Mobil 1 motor oils. Fans can make their favorite selection from four classic cars during the three-week voting process hosted on the Mobil 1 Facebook page. Voting runs now through April 22.

Fans can cast their votes and enter by visiting the “Under the Hood with Tony and Mobil 1” app on the Mobil 1 Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/mobil1. The voting will be done in three rounds, and fans may vote and enter once per day:

• During Round One, April 2-8, the 1955 Chevrolet Nomad will face off with the 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans-Am.

• In Round Two, April 9-15, fans can vote for either the 1957 Chevrolet Bel Air or the 1967 Pontiac GTO.

• The winning vehicles from the two previous rounds will go head-to-head during a final round of voting conducted during the week of April 16-22.

The winning car will be announced on April 23, and the lucky fan who will assist Stewart at his personal garage will be announced Monday, May 6, both via Facebook.

“Whether it’s a classic car or the No. 14 Mobil 1/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet SS, Mobil 1 motor oil is an ideal choice,” said Rebecca Aldred, Mobil 1 global brand manager, ExxonMobil Fuels & Lubricants. “The Mobil 1 brand’s ongoing partnership with NASCAR allows us to engage with the excitement and devotion of motorsports fans for programs like ‘Under the Hood with Tony and Mobil 1,’ while reinforcing the excellent performance and protection of Mobil 1 motor oils for a wide variety of vehicles.”

Earlier this year, ExxonMobil announced a multi-year partnership extension making Mobil 1 the “Official Motor Oil of NASCAR” and “Official Lubricant Technology Partner of NASCAR” through 2017. The 2013 NASCAR season marks the 11th consecutive season in which the Mobil 1 brand is an official partner of NASCAR, the premier motorsports series in the United States.

Mobil 1 is the co-primary sponsor of Tony Stewart’s No. 14 Mobil 1/Bass Pro Shops Chevrolet SSfor Stewart-Haas Racing. In the first two years of the technology collaboration with Mobil 1, Tony Stewart and the No. 14 team claimed eight race wins, 35 top-ten finishes and the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Championship. Stewart is a three-time NASCAR Sprint Cup Series champion, also winning the title in 2002 and 2005.
