Troy Thompson from Ramona, CA, received the Automotive Technology Outstanding Student Scholarship at the 2008 North American Council of Automotive Teachers (NACAT) Conference held recently at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, PA. Each year Mitchell 1 recognizes one U.S. high school senior for outstanding achievement in automotive technology scholastics.

During the awards ceremony, Thompson was presented with a check for $2,500 along with a recognition certificate courtesy of Mitchell 1.

“Mitchell 1 is proud to have the opportunity to recognize Troy Thompson for his outstanding achievement and strong dedication to pursuing educational excellence in the automotive technology field,” said Karen Wagner, marketing manager for Mitchell 1.

Upon graduation, Thompson plans on becoming a drivability technician with diesel certification. He has also been interning at the Perry Ford dealership in Poway, CA, for the past year to get hands-on experience.

“I plan on achieving my career goals in the automotive industry by continuing my education,” said Thompson. “Growing technology is making it more and more necessary to have a good education in order to work smart,” said Thompson. “I believe that the future of this industry is going to be outstanding because of the increasing technology.”
