John Overby of Burnsville, MN, was recently named Cengage Learning/ASE Master Automobile Technician of the Year at the ASE’s annual Board of Directors’ Industry Awards Dinner. Delmar, a leading provider of training and information materials and part of Cengage Learning, sponsors the national award which recognizes the automotive technician who earns the highest composite score on the ASE certification exams, the industry standard for automotive professionals. Overby’s scores were among the highest of more than 350,000 professionals in 2008 for which Delmar awarded him with a cash prize and an all-expenses-paid trip to the awards banquet.

“The National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) is well-known across the industry for its dedication to improving the quality of automotive service and repair. We share this commitment and are proud to support automotive technicians as they demonstrate a passion for continued learning in their profession,” said Kristen Davis, Director of Professional Automotive and Trucking Learning Solutions for Delmar.

Overby has been an automotive technician for more than 30 years and is currently employed as a Technician/Parts Advisor at Park Chrysler Jeep in Burnsville, MN. Along with a love old cars and racing, he has an ongoing commitment to improving his skills. Overby chose to participate in the ASE Exams covering a range of topics over the past year and worked diligently to excel on these difficult certifications.

“As long as there are cars, there will be car repairs; as such, there will always be a need for qualified and skilled technicians,” said Overby.

Delmar has a wide variety of learning solutions designed to help automotive technicians prepare for the ASE exams. These solutions, including the ASE Test Preparation materials, are available in print or digital (online) format to best meet the learning styles of the individual and are available in both English and Spanish.
