Greg Epsaro, owner of Harriman Auto in Harriman, NY, has been named the 2006 TECH-NET Professional Auto Service/ASE Technician of the Year. He was selected for the award after meeting the criteria set by CARQUEST Auto Parts.

Epsaro had the highest composite scores of A1-A8 and L1 ASE tests among ASE Certified Master Technicians who designated they were members of TECH-NET Professional Auto Service program and took the Fall 2005 or Spring 2006 ASE automobile certification exams.

"I couldn’t be prouder than I am today with receiving such a great honor," said Epsaro, who began working on vehicles at the age of 12 and worked at a variety of dealerships before starting his own business. "Since I began my business, I’ve had a great relationship with Robbie (Rosenthal) from my local CARQUEST store. He provides me not only quality parts and service, but professional programs like TECH-NET Professional Auto Service and CARQUEST Technical Institute."

Since 1984, Epsaro has owned his family business, Harriman Auto, located in Orange County, NY. The state of the art facility has 11 bays and includes the most up-to-date diagnostic, suspension and alignment equipment available. An advocate of ASE certification, he holds 47 ASE certifications and requires all technicians at Harriman Auto to become ASE certified.

Epsaro and his wife, Jeanine, who is vice president of Harriman Auto, have two young children, Gregory and Angelina. He is a member of the World Class Automotive Hall of Fame, located in Michigan, and is a three-time finalist for the CARQUEST Excellence Award. His community involvement includes working for the local fire department, where he has earned congressional recognition for his work. He is also a board member for the Orange County, NY, Board of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES). Through BOCES, he mentors local high school students and promotes careers as an automotive technician.

"Greg’s dedication to the industry and community along with his passion for technology is unsurpassed," said Mike DeSorbo, CARQUEST director of market segments. "Adding Greg’s name to the list of TECH-NET/ASE Technician of the Year winners only confirms how far one must strive in automotive service excellence to become a winner of this award."

As the winner of the 2006 TECH-NET/ASE Technician of the Year, Epsaro will receive in total more than $20,000 worth of prizes. He will receive an all-expense paid trip for two to the ASE board meeting where he will be presented a trophy and gold ring and will join the membership of the CARQUEST Advisory Council. In addition, he will be honored as the co-Grand Marshal at the 2007 CARQUEST 300 NASCAR Busch Series race in Charlotte, NC.
