Federated Kennys to Battle on the Dirt at ‘Prelude to a Dream’ Charity Race

Kenny Schrader and Kenny Wallace may be teammates on the Federated Auto Parts racing team, but on June 9, the two Kennys will be battling each other in their Federated dirt track cars – for a good cause.  They will be competing for charity as the Kennys will be driving in the 2010 “Prelude to the Dream” dirt track race at the Eldora Speedway in Rossburg, Ohio.  The event hopes to raise $1 million for four children’s hospitals.

“We are thrilled to have the two Kennys drive the Federated dirt track cars in this prestigious race,” said J.R. Bishop, director of racing and event marketing for Federated Auto Parts.  “One of the main reasons we have the two Kennys represent Federated is because of how popular they are with the fans and how well respected they are among their peers. The Kennys participation in this race shows that they are truly two of the most admired drivers in racing today.”

While there will be an individual race winner of the “Prelude,” there also will be a race within the race with the drivers split up into four teams, each representing a children’s hospital.  The all-star dirt late model race will be shown live on HBO Pay-Per-View, with proceeds from the telecast supporting four of the nation’s top children’s hospitals: Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Cincinnati Children’s Hospital, Levine Children’s Hospital in Charlotte and St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis.

Schrader will be on “Team St. Jude” with such NASCAR stars as Denny Hamlin, Carl Edwards and Robby Gordon while Wallace will race for “Team Riley” where some of his teammates include Clint Bowyer, Ryan Newman and Jeff Gordon.  The “Prelude” is organized by Tony Stewart and features other prominent drivers such as Kasey Kahne, Kevin Harvick, Kyle Busch, Jimmie Johnson, Matt Kenseth as well as NHRA drivers such as Cruz Pedregon. Also, a spot has been reserved for the winner of the Indy 500.

The five previous “Prelude to the Dreams” have collectively raised more than $2.5 million for charity. The broadcast will begin at 7 p.m. ET on June 9 with an immediate replay.  Information about the race can be found at www.PreludeToTheDream.org.
