EnerSys Rebrands Line As ODYSSEY Extreme Series Batteries

EnerSys has rebranded its existing line of ODYSSEY batteries as ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries to differentiate between the existing product line and a new line of batteries that is in development for the consumer market.

EnerSys has rebranded its existing line of ODYSSEY batteries as ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries to differentiate between the existing product line and a new line of batteries that is in development for the consumer market.

ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries are designed for demanding applications, such as emergency response vehicles, transit buses and race cars. The pulse-hot cranking amps (PHCA), cold cranking amps (CCA) and reserve capacity (RC) ratings are substantially higher than those of conventional automotive batteries.

All ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries, are absorbed glass mat (AGM) batteries and feature thin-plate, pure lead (TPPL) technology. Pure lead plates are thinner, which provide more surface area for greater power. TPPL technology enables the batteries to provide reliable starting, lighting and ignition (SLI), as well as deep cycling for parasitic loads, such as computers for fuel-injection systems.

EnerSys provides models in the ODYSSEY Extreme Series battery line for a variety of applications, including automotive and light truck, powersports (motorcycles, all-terrain vehicles, snowmobiles and personal watercraft), marine, heavy-duty and commercial, fleets and racing.

TPPL technology and rugged construction enable ODYSSEY Extreme Series batteries to offer a three- to 10-year service life and storage of up to two years without recharging. Their welded intercell connections enable them to withstand extreme vibration, and their AGM design eliminates spills, enabling them to be installed in any position except inverted.
